On 27th of April, Dr. Batul Saifee – Psychologist and counsellor, conducted a session for the students of grade IX to XII on the topic *”The Troubling Tide: Substance Abuse among Indian Teens”* addressing the critical issue of substance abuse among Indian teens, delving into the types of substances commonly abused, their sources, effects, and strategies to combat them. Emphasizing the importance of open dialogue with elders, Dr. Saifee underscored the role of trusted adults in navigating substance abuse challenges. Students gleaned valuable insights, understanding the grave consequences of substance abuse, the significance of seeking support from adults, and their potential to positively influence peers. Armed with knowledge, they were equipped to make informed choices and resist peer pressure. The session fostered an environment of awareness and empowerment, allowing children aged 9-12 to engage meaningfully with the topic. Dr. Saifee’s expertise and guidance facilitated a productive learning experience, enabling students to grasp the complexities of substance abuse and empowering them to take proactive steps in safeguarding their well-being and that of their peers.
