With an intent to inculcate the interest and take an everlasting learning and enhancement of knowledge bank of the third language,’ French’, GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL INDORE, celebrated the National Day of France, better known as Bastille Day or Le Quatorze Juillet, commemorating the Storming of the Bastille (culmination of a violent revolution in Paris) on 14 July 2023 by presenting the school morning assembly. The assembly started with a brief introduction given by Chehek Rao and Yuwan Shah Grade X, elaborating on the history of France followed by a description of the ‘French Revolution’. A traditional French song “ Quand Je vais a l’ecole” was sung by the budding learners of the language from grade VI. The high level of interest evoked among the learners of the French language, with the variety of activities, brought out the students’ creative side and their eagerness to learn more about life in France and to distinguish the difference in cultures of India and France. The celebration highlighted the need to appreciate the culture and build solidarity among the people of India and France. The assembly culminated with a vote of thanks given by the faculty of the French department Ms. Simran Punjabi.
