SPREAD YOUR WINGS
The Indian Air Force is celebrating the 89th Air Force Day today on October 8th. This day is celebrated as Air Force Day because the Indian Air Force was officially raised on this day in 1932. The day is showcased with Fly pasts and air displays by daredevil Air Warriors to commemorate the lost warriors and veteran pilots of the Indian Air Force. I being an Indian Coast Guard Pilot am closely associated with Indian Air Force and am privileged to be an alumnus of Air Force Academy. This inner dream of being an ‘AVIATOR’ was born at a very young age and has developed together with age. I emphasize on word ‘AVIATOR’ because the urge to fly like a bird in the sky has been my cherished desire since my childhood. I could not join Indian Air Force to fly, but I kept running for my dream till I found myself up in the sky. Important to understand is, to remain and sustain your passion, the horizon must be broadened. It’s no secret that pilots get the best view. Needless to mention, an office with a view, is better than any cubicle. You can experience the world from a fresh perspective and explore new horizons of the sky each time you fly. Until you’ve seen the view from 1,000 feet, you have no idea what you’re missing. It’s magical. so many of these awe-inspiring moments that you are left with no choice but to fly.
Imagine, when you’re flying alone on a dark, moonlit night with only the light of the red and green position lights on either side of you, you’ll feel like you’re the only one in the world. When you’re up so early in the morning that you see the sunrise during takeoff, you’ll be reminded of the earth’s significance. As a pilot, there are Right Attitude, Determination, Interest, Enthusiasm, Wanting, Desire is some of the synonyms which will lead you towards your goal. Almost every aviator could confirm that behind happy flying. hides a long story of dreams and motivation. Motivation to occupy a seat in the cockpit could be hardly trained but it is grown through the years. Becoming a pilot makes you smarter. You’ll learn good resource management, how to be patient and how to operate safely, with a sense of urgency. You will gain knowledge that you never thought you would need to know. You’ll become a better planner, a logical and quick decision-maker. You’ll learn to do math in your head quickly. After all, when your life depends on it, you learn to do all kinds of things quickly.
There are countless reasons why you should pursue a career as a pilot, and the reasons can be as simple as a childhood dream and as complex as a lifelong goal. Flying is an adrenaline rush and that’s why we are attracted to it in the first place. Start your journey with a lifestyle forward, socially responsible, and meaningful career that will never go out of style. I don’t endorse that flying is the best profession in the world…but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward. Lest we forget, remember – ‘Your attitude, will determine your altitude’

INDIAN NAVY-THREE-DIMENSIONAL PROCESS
Indian Navy is celebrating the 50th NAVY DAY on December 04, 2021. Navy Day is celebrated to commemorate Operation Trident, which was the attack on the Karachi harbor during the Indo-Pakistan war (on 4 December 1971) by the Indian Naval Missile boats as well into reverence all the martyrs of that war. During the attack, Indian sailors communicated in Russian to avoid detection. No Indian sailors were killed in the attack. The theme of Navy Day is “Indian Navy Combat Ready, Credible & Cohesive”. “Covid-19 and Chinese attempts to change status quo along northern borders have posed new challenges. The Navy is ready to face both these challenges,” Admiral Karambir Singh, the Navy chief said.
The white, bright, and shining uniform of the Indian Navy always fantasized me during my childhood, it was my dream to wear it and perform my duty towards the nation. Being a veteran of the Indian Navy, it makes me proud of the fact that I got a chance to serve the motherland through this multi-dimensional force. The Navy has to operate on different fronts at a time, firstly in ships, boats, amphibious vessels, aircraft carriers, etc. above-water, secondly in submarines underwater, thirdly in helicopters, drones & fighter jets in the air which makes it a three-dimensional process. As a sailor of the Navy, there are times when we have to be in the middle of the sea for months, with no signs of any living or non-living being other than our crew onboard, open sky and the vast long-lasting sea looks same in day and the night. The Navy made me physically and mentally tough to adapt to adverse conditions and take up any challenge in life on-duty or off-duty. It taught me to be disciplined, honest, determined. punctual and trustworthy team player. I always learned to keep the country and service before me at all times. During my tenure in the Indian Navy, I explored various verticals of the service, apart from the professional subjects I learned team management, leadership, administration. fire-fighting. health & safety, environmental & social, etc.
I would recommend everyone to try and make their carrier with Indian Navy, it is one of the best options among others as it makes you a complete human being. There are many scopes for both young boys and girls to join the force and make their dream come true. I will be more than happy to guide the kids and their parents if they are looking to make a carrier in the Indian Navy or any of the other defense forces.
The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war

BEING A PHARMA PROFESSIONAL
When we think of a Pharmacist, generally the first thing which comes to our mind is the Chemist, who dispenses medicines to patients in a medical store. I also grew up with the same opinion. However, when I completed my 10+2, I came across this fascinating field where during my routine visit to the Delhi college of pharmacy, I saw students preparing medicines in the lab, which we in technical terms call ‘Active pharmaceutical ingredients or API’. To me, this looked quite interesting and challenging and I decided to pursue my graduation in this field only. Further down the line, I observed that it’s not just the active ingredients, the pharma field is like a vast sea, where there are several branches and sub-branches.
Broadly there are 5 main branches, and they are:
- Pharmaceutics
- Medicinal Chemistry
- Pharmacology
- Pharmacy Practice
- Pharmacology
Pharmaceutics deals with the process of conversion of the new compound into a drug that can be dispensed to a patient to treat the medical condition. In simpler terms, we can say that the way to formulate a tablet/capsule/ or injectable preparation is in a way that the accurate dose is dispensed to patients each time for each batch manufactured.
Medicinal chemistry deals with drug synthesis from a simple molecule via a series of multiple reactions. E.g. synthesis of Paracetamol is commonly used in Crocin tablets to reduce fever. It is a combination of Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, and various other biological body. specialties. Pharmacy Practice is the process of the practice of Pharmacy and is subdivided into:
- Clinical Interventions
- Pharmaceutical Care
- Communication Skills
- Patient Care
Pharmacology is the study of the interaction of drugs with living organisms and the study of chemical compounds that might affect normal or abnormal biochemical functions. In simpler terms, we call it as the study of Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of medicines from the human body
In a nutshell, there is ample scope in this field from being a researcher to a formulator to patient support. Additionally, a lot of pharmaceutical companies and their variants. The world is now looking at India as an active ingredient supplier as well as they are providing overseas opportunities to Indian pharma professionals considering the skill set India has. If I look at my journey so far, I started as a Research Scientist in Ranbaxy research laboratories, Gurgaon where I was involved in clinical trials of new drugs in humans. Later I shifted to Novartis Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Limited in Hyderabad in the field of Pharma regulatory affairs, where I was dealing specifically in chemistry, manufacturing, and controls of medicinal products. Currently, I am associated with Merck Sharp and Dohme as an Associate Director in Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls. blessed to work not just for myself but also for society as well. Very recently our company is planning to come up with Molunapiravir, a new drug which can be taken at home as a treatment for ongoing pandemic due to Corona Virus and its variants.
To conclude, what I can assure is that for those who wish to strive hard in their life and want to do something for society as well., this field can be a good option for them.
